Recording Bob Chilcott's St John Passion

Wells Cathedral Choir was hailed by Gramophone Magazine as ‘probably the finest English cathedral choir at the moment’ in ‘world-class form’. The choir has made at least one recording a year over the last 20 years (see below for a complete list) for notable labels such as Hyperion, Sigma, and Regent Records. Many of the recordings have received very positive reviews for our over the years.  Some of these can be read here.

Sample tracks from a few recordings are provided below and are an excellent example of the extraordinary high standards that our choristers achieve. We hope you enjoy listening to them!

A Ceremony of Carols

On Saturday 1 February 2020, the Choristers performed Benjamin Britten's 'A Ceremony of Carols' to a sell-out crowd. With Jeremy Cole conducting and Ruth Faber playing the harp, they together brought out the magic of this extraordinary work. Particular credit must go to the soloists: Sophie, Lloyd, Sophie, Meg, George, and Dan.

We are very grateful that staff from Wells Cathedral School came along and recorded the concert for us. You can listen here to that performance.
